Winter and Spring Discovery Day Programs

Discovery Days, the Nature Center's enrichment series for young children, pre-schoolers and students in grades K-3.  The cost of each four week session is $40 for members/$50 for nonmembers except for Nature for Little Ones (as noted below).  Discounts are extended to families with multiple children attending during the same time period.

NATURE FOR LITTLE ONES

Eight Thursday morning programs for two year olds and a parent (or grandparent) provide the young child with an introduction to the world of nature and deal with seasonal topics. Meets 10:00 - 11:00 AM. Child must be two years old.

Register for all eight sessions at a cost of $70 members, $90 nonmembers.
Register for one or more individual dates at $10 members, $15 nonmembers.

Sessions to be held on the following dates:
April 8, 15, 29; May 6, 13, 20, 27; June 3

 
EXPLORING TOGETHER (For 3's & 4's and a parent)

This series introduces pre-school children to seasonal changes in the natural world and gives parent and child an opportunity to learn together. The cost of each four week session is $40.00 for members, $50.00 for nonmembers. A younger sibling may attend for a $10 discount, no charge for siblings under age 2.

Portions of the program are held outdoors, please dress accordingly.

The January through March series meets on Thursday mornings from 10:00-11:00 AM

Friday afternoons from 1:15-2:15 PM

The April through June sesions will meet Friday mornings 10:00-11:00 AM
OR
Friday afternoons 1:15-2:15 PM
        
January/February Sessions: January 7/8, 14/15, 21/22, 28/29
February/March Sessions: February 25/26; March 4/5, 11/12, 18/19
April-May Sessions: April 9, 16, 30; May 7
May-June Sessions: May 14, 21, 28; June 4


PROGRAMS FOR 4 & 5 YEAR OLDS

Programs for kindergarten students and children in kindergarten readiness programs are held on Thursday mornings from 10:00-11:00 AM and afternoons from 1:30 - 2:30 PM. These programs are for children without parental participation.

From caterpillars and nestlings to “kits” and “pups,” this is the season for animal babies.

PROGRAMS FOR STUDENTS IN GRADES 1,2,3

Enrichment programs for elementary school age youngsters meet Wednesday afternoons from 3:45-5:00 PM. (Please Note: change of day)

Life at the Frog Pond
Things are “hopping” in our vernal pool, while the pond remains quiet. Find out why there is such a difference.
