The Ray Smith Endowment For Education and Conservation was established by Ray and his family prior to his death in January, 1997. The endowment honors Ray's respect for the land and his wish to help others appreciate their natural environment.

Donations in Ray's memory from his family and friends have created the fund which is managed by The Hartford Foundation for Public Giving. The endowment will continue to fund special projects at the Roaring Brook Nature Center where donations can always be sent.
